Cartridge mechanical seal

15 Oct 2018Email

Cartridge mechanical seal is a collection of seven main parts, such as a rotating ring, a stationary ring, a spring, an auxiliary sealing ring, a bushing, and a gland static sealing gasket.

Cartridge mechanical seal

The rotating and stationary parts of the seal are pre-assembled as a whole before installation. After being inspected and tested, they are placed on the inner shaft of the shaft seal box, fixed on the shaft with set screws, tighten the cap bolts, and dismantle the assembly. The positioning piece and the mechanical seal can be placed in parallel working state and put into operation. This not only makes assembly easy but also guarantees assembly quality. The welded metal bellows mechanical seals are all made into a cartridge seal, which has the above advantages. The card seal is also a cartridge type mechanical seal. The sealed static ring, moving ring, bushing and gland and auxiliary seal are assembled together with a bushing before installation to facilitate inspection of assembly quality. After the inspection is passed, just tighten the cover and tighten the screws.

Such a sealed assembly that is assembled, inspected, and tested in advance is easy to ensure the quality of installation and assembly. This cartridge seal has the following features:
(1) It is not necessary to measure the working length of the seal during installation;
(2) The shaft can be adjusted at any time;
(3) There will be no leakage at startup because the seal has been tested in advance;
(4) It is only necessary to set the tight sealing cap bolts during installation, and the assembly quality is easy to guarantee;
(5) Protect the sealing surface from contamination by debris or damage due to operational errors before installation or start-up;
(6) The equipment can be re-adjusted after thermal expansion;
(7) Self-centering can be achieved by using cooperation;
(8) It is easy to remove the seal for cleaning and inspection without disassembling the pump equipment. All mechanical seals are recommended in the API682 standard for cartridge mechanical seals.
