How to make the diaphragm pump work smoothly

Boom sprayers used to spray pesticides on large areas mostly use piston diaphragm pumps. This pump is a reciprocating positive displacement pump, and the water that is pressed out has pulsation. The power of the diaphragm pump is generally from a tractor, and the speed of driving the diaphragm pump is generally 500-600r/min. Taking a two-cylinder pump as an example, the water pulsation is 1000-1200 times/min. The pulsation of the effluent is harmful to the sprayer and the quality of spraying. In order to eliminate the pulsation phenomenon, there is an important component on this type of pump; the air chamber. The function of the air chamber is to use the compressibility (or called elasticity) of the air to absorb the water pulsation of the diaphragm pump and stabilize it.

The structure of the air chamber is generally to separate the water cavity from the air cavity with a rubber diaphragm. After filling the air chamber with compressed air, the pulsation of water in the water chamber is absorbed by the compressed air in the air chamber through the rubber diaphragm, and the water flow into the system is basically stable. But to achieve the requirement of basically stable water flow, there is a prerequisite, that is, the air pressure in the air chamber should be compatible with the water pressure. It can be seen that the air chamber of the diaphragm pump should be properly inflated before the sprayer works. How to inflate properly?

Method 1. Before the diaphragm pump is operated, inflate the air chamber first, whose air pressure is greater than the working pressure of the pump. Drive the diaphragm pump to adjust to the working pressure. At this time, you can see the pump's water outlet hose shakes violently. Take a needle and put it on the air nozzle to deflate. As the deflation progresses, the shaking of the water outlet hose will gradually disappear. After the water outlet hose is stable, stop deflating.

Method 2. Drive the diaphragm pump and adjust to working pressure. At this time, because there is no air pressure in the air chamber, the water outlet hose of the pump shakes violently. Inflate into the air chamber immediately. As the inflation progresses, the shaking of the outlet hose gradually disappears. Stop inflation after the water outlet hose is stable.

The above two methods are all operated in the running state, and you must pay attention to safety during operation.
