How to choose and distinguish between vertical multistage centrifugal pump and horizontal multistage centrifugal pump?

18 May 2021Email

The difference between a vertical multistage centrifugal pump and a horizontal multistage centrifugal pump is that one is standing upright and the other is lying horizontally. The main difference between a horizontal multistage centrifugal pump and a vertical multistage centrifugal pump is that the water inlet and the water outlet are different. The horizontal multistage centrifugal pump has horizontal inlet and horizontal outlet, and the vertical type has horizontal inlet and vertical outlet.

horizontal multistage pump

1. The appearance is different, the vertical pump is standing while the horizontal pump is lying horizontally.

2. Different connection forms, vertical pumps are superimposed and connected from bottom to top, and horizontal pumps are arranged longitudinally on the base.

3. The floor space is different. The vertical pump occupies a small area while the horizontal pump occupies a large area.

4. The difficulty of maintenance is different, and the maintenance of vertical pumps is very difficult. For example, the upper part of the impeller must be completely removed before it can be carried out; while the horizontal pump is relatively easy.

5. The installation forms are different. The vertical pump is connected as a whole, which is easy to install; while the horizontal pump requires precision adjustment after installation.

vertical multistage pump

The working principle of vertical multistage pump and horizontal multistage pump is exactly the same. Only the center line of the motor and the pump of the vertical multi-stage pump is vertical upward, so the vertical multi-stage pump occupies a very small area and is easy to install in places restricted by space. However, the center line of the motor and the pump of the horizontal multi-stage pump is horizontal, so the horizontal multi-stage pump occupies a relatively large area. Generally, the manufacturer will install the pump and motor on a common base. In this way, because of the different installation positions, the convenience of maintenance varies. For horizontal multi-stage pumps, it is relatively easy to disassemble the water pump during maintenance, and it is more convenient to rectify after maintenance. Easy to operate. However, the vertical multistage pump is relatively difficult to disassemble. If the motor is relatively large, a professional hoist must be required to lift the motor before disassembly. At the same time, it is also more troublesome to install and adjust the timing. Therefore, when the customer chooses the pump, he chooses the structure of the pump according to his actual situation.

The advantages and disadvantages of vertical multistage centrifugal pumps and horizontal multistage centrifugal pumps

In terms of choice, most people would like to use horizontal multistage centrifugal pumps, mainly because horizontal pumps are simple, easy to repair and maintain. The vertical centrifugal pump is troublesome to maintain, and needs to be lifted every time it is repaired. Moreover, the long shaft pump needs to replace the sliding bearing under the liquid for a long time. If it is not replaced, the possible consequence is that the centrifugal force of the shaft becomes larger and larger, which causes the shaft runout value to become larger. If it is not replaced in time, it will cause a mechanical accident. And ensure absolute horizontal installation during installation. Since there are so many shortcomings, why would you choose a vertical centrifugal pump?

First, vertical centrifugal pumps are mostly used in working conditions that cannot be installed in underground tanks that cannot be backfilled. Or because there is no open space on site for the horizontal centrifugal pump, the vertical centrifugal pump can only be placed on the tank.

Second, if an ordinary horizontal pump (not a self-priming pump) has a poor self-priming ability, it will not be able to extract the medium from the tank below. Therefore, horizontal pumps and vertical pumps are not comparable.

Vertical multi-stage centrifugal pump requirements for the medium: it is best to contain no particles or a small amount of tiny particles. The cleaning medium is certainly better. The specific situation should be analyzed in detail.

1. Vertical multi-stage centrifugal pumps, with the same inlet and outlet diameters and located on the same centerline, can be installed in the pipeline like a valve, compact and beautiful, small footprint, low construction investment, such as with a protective cover It can be used outdoors.

2. The impeller of the vertical multistage centrifugal pump is directly installed on the extended shaft of the motor. The axial size is short, the structure is compact, and the pump and motor bearing configuration is reasonable, which can effectively balance the radial and axial loads generated by the pump operation, thereby ensuring The pump runs smoothly, with low vibration and low noise.

3. The shaft seal of vertical multistage centrifugal pump adopts mechanical seal or mechanical seal combination, adopts imported titanium alloy seal ring, medium-sized high temperature resistant mechanical seal and adopts hard alloy material, wear-resistant seal, which can effectively extend the service life of mechanical seal .

4. The vertical multistage centrifugal pump is easy to install and maintain, without disassembling the pipe road system. All the rotor parts can be drawn out by removing the pump joint seat nut.

5. Vertical multi-stage centrifugal pumps can adopt series and parallel operation modes of pumps according to the requirements of use, that is, the requirements of flow and head.

6. Vertical multistage centrifugal pumps can be installed vertically and horizontally according to the requirements of pipeline layout.
