Calculation formula for outlet pressure of boiler feed water pump

17 Jul 2021Email

The outlet pressure of the boiler feed water pump is mainly determined by the working pressure of the boiler drum. In addition, the water outlet of the feedwater pump must overcome the following resistances: the resistance of the feedwater adjustment door, the resistance of the economizer, the static between the boiler water inlet and the feedwater pump outlet Water supply height.

boiler feed water pump

The energy obtained by the boiler feed pump unit weight of liquid through the pump is called the head. The head of the pump, including the suction stroke, is approximately equal to the pressure difference between the outlet and inlet of the pump. The head is represented by H, and the unit is meter (m). The pressure of the pump is represented by P, and the unit is Mpa (Mega Pa).

The formula for calculating the outlet pressure of the boiler feed water pump:

According to empirical estimates, the minimum outlet pressure of the feedwater pump is 1.25 times the maximum pressure of the boiler.

The conversion formula between the outlet pressure of the boiler feed pump and the head: H=P/ρ.

The energy obtained by the unit weight of the liquid through the pump is called the head. The head of the pump, including the suction stroke, is approximately equal to the pressure difference between the outlet and inlet of the pump. The head is represented by H, and the unit is meter (m). The pressure of the pump is represented by P, and the unit is Mpa (Mega Pa).

The conversion formula between the outlet pressure of the boiler feed water pump and the head: H=P/ρ;

Where P: the outlet pressure of the pump Pa;

ρ: The density of water is 1000kg/m3, or the density of the pumped fluid;

H: The final head of the boiler feed pump, in m.

Example of calculation of outlet pressure of boiler feed water pump:

If the outlet pressure P of the boiler feed water pump is 1kg/cm2 (in engineering practice, it is called 1kg water pressure), and the density of water in the normal state is 1000kg/m3, then:

H=P/ρ;

=(1kg/ cm2)/(1000kg/m3);

=(10000kg/m2)/(1000kg/m3);

=10m;

The calculation result of the outlet pressure of the boiler feed water pump:

From the above formula, it can be concluded that the pressure of 1MPa is approximately equal to the head of 100m, and the pressure of 1 kg of water is 0.1MPa. That is, 1Mpa=100m=10 kg.
