Total head
In fluid mechanics, the total head is the total energy per unit weight of fluid.
The unit is meter(short for m).
For example, a position head is the energy that a fluid has when it is above a reference level.
The static head is also called the pressure head, which is the static pressure energy per unit weight of fluid.
In fluid mechanics, the pressure of a fluid is expressed in terms of height, which is referred to as the indenter. There are three types of fluid indenters:
1. The pressure head of the fluid due to its height from the standard is called the geometric head, and the height h of the fluid from the standard surface is indicated;
2. The pressure head of the fluid due to pressure is called the static head. Its size is equal to the pressure of the fluid column. It is expressed by the formula: static pressure = p / ρg
Where p is the pressure of the fluid
ρ - the density of the fluid
3 The pressure head caused by the flow rate when flowing is called the speed head, which is expressed by the formula.
Speed head = v2/2g (square of flow rate divided by 2g)
Where v - the speed of the fluid
g - gravity acceleration
The sum of the geometric indenter, the static head and the speed head is called the total head of the fluid, which is expressed by the formula.
Total pressure head = h + p / ρg + v2 / 2g
