Selection of anti-corrosion materials for seawater circulating pumps

  We need to rationally select the materials for processing and manufacturing seawater pump parts in consideration of factors such as the price, mechanical properties, and anti-corrosion performance of the seawater circulating pump.

  (1) For the seawater circulating pump made of stainless steel, we should choose the seawater pump based on the market price, mechanical properties, corrosion resistance and other factors. Among them, 2205 duplex steel is more reasonable. Because its performance is better than austenitic stainless steel, the price is lower than the American standard Nitronic50.

  (2) For the sea water pump made of copper alloy, we also have to choose according to factors such as market price, corrosion resistance, and mechanical properties. Among them, aluminum bronze is more reasonable. Because aluminum bronze is the lowest price among the above-mentioned copper alloy materials, and its mechanical properties are almost the same as other copper alloys.

  (3) The price of sea water pump made of Monel material is relatively high, especially the pump shaft made of Monel material. If there is no special need, we should look for alloy materials with similar properties as a substitute.

   In short, we can choose aluminum bronze and duplex stainless steel, two alloy materials with little difference in natural potential, as the material for the main components of the sea water pump, which can effectively avoid the contact corrosion of dissimilar metals. If you have special needs, you can choose Monel material as the material of the sea water pump to improve the overall corrosion resistance of the sea water pump.
