Inspection of the pump in operation

During the operation of the pump, the focus is to check the following aspects:
A. Is the bearing working normally?
1. Oil temperature: do not exceed 60℃.
2. Oil level: For rolling bearings without oil rings, the oil level should not be lower than the ball center; for bearings with oil rings, the oil level should be able to bury one-fifth of the diameter of the oil ring. In order to monitor the oil level, an oil level gauge or oil gauge is provided on the bearing.
3. Oil quality: no water can enter impurities, no emulsification or blackening.
4. Whether there is abnormal sound: Especially when the rolling bearing is damaged, abnormal sound will usually appear.

B. Are the readings of the vacuum gauge, pressure gauge, and ammeter normal?
1. The pointer of the vacuum gauge should not swing too much. If the swing is too large, it may be that the inlet has vaporized. In addition, the reading of the vacuum gauge should not be too high, too high may be the entrance door is blocked or stuck, or the entrance door flap falls off, and the water level of the suction pool decreases.
2. The reading of the pressure gauge is too low, which may be caused by poor operation of the internal parts of the pump and severe wear of the sealing ring. In addition, when the water demand of the system is large, the outlet pressure of the pump will also decrease.
3. The reading of the ammeter is too large, which may be caused by large water supply and friction in the pump. If the reading of the ammeter is too small, it indicates that the pump has fallen into the water or the outside does not need so much water.

C. Whether the pump body vibrates. Generally, the vibration amplitude of the pump does not exceed 0.08 mm. (Special requirements for pumps will be determined separately) Causes of vibration are:
1. The center of the water pump and the motor is not right.
2. The foundation screws of the pump body or the motor are loose, or the foundation is not firm.
3. The bearing cap is not tight enough. Make the bearing beating in the body.
4. The rotor mass is unbalanced. 5. Volute pumps, especially some high-lift volute pumps, will also vibrate to varying degrees at low flow rates. This is because there is radial force on the rotor at this time. When the outlet valve is opened to a certain level, the vibration disappears immediately.

D. Is the sealing work normal?
1. The filler should be able to drip slightly, not too tight, otherwise it will heat up and smoke. But too loose will cause a lot of water leakage, which will easily run into the bearing to emulsify the oil. The packing should be replaced regularly. If it becomes hard, the shaft seal will not function. Long soaking time will make the filling tank rot
2. The end face machine seal must be filled with liquid before operation to prevent dry grinding. The equipment that has not been turned on for a long time is best to be manually turned off. It is the most ideal method for easy crystallization and granular media. It is to take corresponding washing, filtering, cooling measures and auxiliary sealing devices.
