How to extend the service life of multistage pumps
Wearing parts are the most vulnerable part of multi-stage pumps. Special care should be taken for wearing parts during use, repair and maintenance. So what are the wearing parts of a pump? What should I pay attention to?
1. The casing of multi-stage pumps is generally cast iron. Special pumps have lining materials, which are prone to cracks due to mechanical or thermal stress. When the multi-stage pump is impacted by cavitation during work or frozen by the water in the pump casing without releasing the water in the winter, it is also easy to rupture. If the damage is severe and cannot be repaired, the pump casing should be replaced with a new one.
2. The shafts of multi-stage pumps are generally made of carbon steel, but they are also easily damaged due to manufacturing quality, use or installation. The pump shaft may appear cracks, bends, shaft neck wear, thread damage, etc., and fracture accidents may also occur. If the damage is severe and cannot be repaired, a new shaft should be replaced.
3. The impeller is an important working part of the multi-stage pump, which is made of cast iron. It is also easily damaged due to manufacturing quality and use. The impeller may have cracks, holes or perforations are formed on the surface due to cavitation, and the blades are thinned or partially worn by long-term erosion, and even broken by debris. Some defects can be repaired; some defects cannot be repaired, that is, the impeller should be replaced with a new one.
4. The bearing bush of the sliding bearing is generally made of copper tin alloy, which has poor wear resistance and is one of the most vulnerable parts that are easily worn and burned. The bearing bushes can generally be repaired or replaced with new ones. Rolling bearings generally have an average service life of 5000 hours, but improper installation, long use time or poor maintenance can also be easily worn or destroyed. In addition to the individual parts of the rolling bearing can be replaced with new ones, generally, the integral parts should be replaced.
5. The mouth ring is also called leakage reduction or wear reduction ring. It is one of the most easily worn parts in multi-stage pumps. It can be repaired or replaced after wear. When replacing a new leakage reducing ring, its inner diameter should be configured according to the outer diameter of the impeller inlet. If the outer diameter of the impeller inlet is worn, it can be turned to eliminate groove marks and ellipses, and then equipped with a leakage reducing ring with a reduced inner diameter. The outer diameter of the impeller inlet can generally be turned three times.
6. After a long time, the packing will become hard and lose its elasticity, which will cause air and water leakage in the multi-stage pump. Generally, new packing should be replaced.
7. The oil seal of multi-stage pump is made of rubber, which is easy to wear and age. Generally, new parts must be replaced.
