Centrifugal Pump

14 Oct 2018Email

Definition
A centrifugal pump is a pump that delivers liquid by centrifugal force generated when the impeller rotates. The centrifugal pump works by rotating the impeller to cause the water to move in a centrifugal motion. Before the pump is started, the pump casing and the suction pipe must be filled with water, and then the motor is started, so that the pump shaft drives the impeller and water to perform high-speed rotation movement, the water is centrifugally moved, and is raked to the outer edge of the impeller, and flows through the volute pump casing. The channel flows into the water pressure line of the pump.

Structure
The basic structure of the centrifugal pump is composed of six parts which including the impeller, the pump body, the pump shaft, the bearing, the sealing ring and the stuffing box.

Application
Centrifugal pumps can be widely used in the power, metallurgy, coal, building materials and other industries to transport slurry containing solid particles. Such as thermal power plant water ash, metallurgy, mineral processing plant slurry transport, coal washing plant coal slurry.

Classification
Centrifugal pumps are classified according to the number of impellers and can be divided into single-stage pumps and multi-stage pumps.
Classified according to working pressure, can be divided into low pressure pump, medium pressure pump, high pressure pump.
Classified according to the impeller suction method, it can be divided into single suction pump and double suction pump.
Classified by pump shaft position, it can be divided into horizontal pump and vertical pump.
In addition, it can also be classified according to the application, such as oil pump, water pump, condensate pump, ash pump, circulating water pump, and etc.

When the centrifugal pump is working, the pump needs to be placed on the land, the suction pipe is placed in the water, and the pump needs to be filled with water to start. Due to the structural limitations of the mud pump and the submerged centrifugal pump, the motor needs to be placed above the water surface during operation, and the pump is placed in the water, so it must be fixed. Otherwise, the motor will fall into the water and the motor will be scrapped. Moreover, since the length of the long shaft is generally fixed, the installation of the pump is troublesome, and the application is subject to many restrictions.
