Cavitation Noise

15 Oct 2018Email

Cavitation is a phenomenon in which holes are generated in a liquid, and the noise generated by the formation and collapse of holes is cavitation noise. Cavitation generally occurs at the interface between a fluid and a solid with relative motion, such as when a liquid flows through a valve, when the static pressure downstream of the valve is greater than the saturated vapor pressure of the liquid, and local static pressure in some parts of the valve or due to throttling The flow rate at the valve is large, or because the turbulence is strong at this point and less than or equal to the saturated vapor pressure, cavitation occurs downstream of the valve.
