Seal ring: An annular cover consisting of one or several parts, fixed to a ferrule or washer of the bearing and in contact with another ferrule or gasket or forming a narrow labyrinth gap to prevent leakage of lubricating oil and invasion of foreign objects. It is generally made of nitrile rubber, natural rubber, neoprene, ethylene propylene rubber, fluororubber, silicone rubber and blended rubber.

There are various kinds of sea ring such as round section joint ring, triangular ring, rectangle ring, D shaped ring, T shaped ring , square ring, heart shaped ring, X shaped ring and olive shaped ring. It is usually used in round section joint ring for water pump.
Effects of round section joint ring
Round section joint ring is mainly used for static and reciprocating sealing. For rotary motion sealing, it is limited in low speed rotary sealing.
