How to calculate the head of the cooling pump?
Recently, the design institute consulted to my company's industrial cooling water circulation system used in the cooling pump lift calculation, Changsha Zoomlian pump industry as a professional industrial cooling pump manufacturers, our technical staff shared the following ideas on the cooling pump lift calculation, for the need of user friends for reference.
Cooling pump head calculation needs to consider a number of factors, including pump flow, pump height, pipe length, local water resistance and other factors. Here's a simple formula:
Total head = static head + dynamic head + power loss
Where, static pressure head = liquid level height - pump inlet center line height;
Dynamic pressure head = the pressure head generated by kinetic energy conversion, usually can be ignored;
Power loss = pipe friction resistance loss + local water resistance loss;
Pipe friction resistance loss can be calculated using the formula ΔP = f (L/D) (v^2/2g), where f is the friction coefficient, L and D are the length and diameter of the pipe, v is the flow rate, and g is the acceleration of gravity.
Local water resistance loss includes the water resistance loss caused by components such as elbows, shrinking ports and valves. Local water resistance loss can be calculated by some empirical formulas or experimental methods.
